Report: Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz faces investigation over relationship with teen girl


WASHINGTON — Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said he is under investigation for his sexual conduct after a report Tuesday that the Department of Justice is looking into whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl, and he claimed the investigation is related to an effort to extort him. 

Thee New York Times reported that, according to three sources briefed on the issue, an inquiry seeks to uncover whether Gaetz violated sex trafficking laws by paying for a teen girl to travel with him. Chargeshave not been filed against the Florida congressman.

Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., confirmed Tuesday he is under investigation for his sexual conduct after a New York Times report that the Department of Justice is looking into whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. The alleged encounter under investigation occurred about two years ago, the Times reported, and a DOJ investigation began near the end of the Trump administration late in 2020. It should be noted that charges have not been filed against the Florida congressman and he said in a statement that he believes the investigation is related to an effort to extort him. 
According to Times sources, the investigation into Gaetz is part of a broader probe into Joel Greenberg, a former Florida tax collector and an acquaintance of Gaetz. Greenberg is facing charges that include child sex trafficking and pleaded not guilty.

‘I would kill to be sexually harassed at the moment’: Liberal Teena McQueen stuns colleagues in closed door meeting


The Liberal Party’s federal vice-president, Teena McQueen, said “I would kill to be sexually harassed at the moment” according to three senior Liberal women who joined her at a meeting to discuss the NSW branch’s new code of conduct. 
Andd Ms McQueen, who says she did not make this exact comment, has apologised for an attempt at humour about herself.

Drunk rape victim was not 'mentally incapacitated,' Minnesota Supreme Court rules

MINNEAPOLIS — A person who is sexually assaulted while intoxicated does not fit the designation for a more serious charge if he or she consumed the alcohol or drugs voluntarily, the Minnesota Supreme Court said in a ruling released Wednesday. 
Thee opinion stems from the case of Francois Momulu Khalil, a Minneapolis man who was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual misconduct because the victim was drunk and considered by the jury to be mentally incapacitated.

Michael Johnsen resigns as parliamentary secretary as police investigate alleged rape of sex worker


The New South Wales MP Michael Johnsen has resigned as parliamentary secretary and is taking leave “effective immediately” after a Labor MP told parliament a government member had allegedly sexually assaulted a sex worker.

Johnsen, who is the Nationals MP for the seat of Upper Hunter, said on Wednesday night he was “devastated by these allegations” and would no longer sit in the Nationals or joint government party room. He said he would take a “short” period of leave.

Nationals MP Michael Johnsen will take leave from NSW Parliament as police investigate allegations he raped a sex worker at a secluded Blue Mountains lookout.
